Artist Romero Britto Sells Personal Items to Benefit National YoungArts Foundation

Miami, FL (PRWEB) November 13, 2014 -- Internationally renowned pop artist, Romero Britto, will sell a selection of his favorite keepsakes to benefit emerging young artists through the National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts). Launching on November 7, the artist’s online store, ShopBritto.com, will debut a series of personal items each week, including articles of Romero’s clothing, art supplies and personal mementos, through November 28. Twenty-five percent of the proceeds from the campaign will be donated to YoungArts, which identifies and supports the next generation of artists, and contributes to the cultural vitality of the nation by nurturing the artistic development of talented young artists in the visual, literary, design and performing arts.

A few of Romero’s ‘favorite things’ for sale include:

Smock: “An artist’s uniform,” as he likes to call it, this smock, signed by the artist, bears the marks of many days spent painting and creating. “No painter is complete without his smock,” Britto said, and now, neither is any art collection. The smock is framed and mounted.

Paint Brushes: “When I feel inspired, all these paintbrushes have been the instrument that turned dreams into reality,” Romero said. Now, collectors can own the instruments used to compose his iconic paintings and let the brushes be their inspiration.

Artist’s Easel: The foundation for many of Romero’s original creations, including “Flower Power,” were created on this easel. Now collectors can own a piece of history and where it all began for some of Romero’s most iconic pieces.

Britto Dress Form: With a self-described ‘passion for fashion,’ Britto sees no better combination of his great loves, painting and clothing, than his signature dress form which bears Romero’s iconic winged-heart design.

Additional items include: Romero’s favorite sunglasses, shirts, a pair of shoes, a locks box of Romero’s signature hair and many more items.

Famed for his bold, colorful style—a visual language all its own— Romero Britto’s work is said to evoke happiness and hope, qualities born out of his optimistic outlook on life and rendered into art. Never forgetting his rise from his humble beginnings, Romero focuses his philanthropic efforts on engaging children in arts education and literacy programs.

“It’s humbling to be in this position to offer my favorite things in order for young artists to have the opportunity to take advantage of YoungArts’ life-changing programs,” said Romero Britto. “It is my sincere hope that this program inspires the next generation of creative individuals and even if I can inspire just one child through these personal items, then I will consider this campaign a great success.”

YoungArts’ programs provide emerging artists with powerful experiences and validation by renowned mentors, access to significant scholarships, national recognition and other opportunities throughout their careers to help ensure that the nation’s most outstanding emerging artists are encouraged to pursue careers in the arts.

ABOUT ROMERO BRITTO
Brazilian-born and Miami-made, Romero Britto is an internationally renowned iconic pop artist that uses vibrant, bold and colorful patterns to reflect his optimistic faith in the world around him. Romero’s work evokes happiness and hope using a visual language all its own that is relatable to everyone. ABOUT THE NATIONAL YOUNGARTS FOUNDATION
The National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) was established in 1981 by Lin and Ted Arison to identify and support the next generation of artists, and to contribute to the cultural vitality of the nation by investing in the artistic development of talented young artists in the visual, literary, design and performing arts. Each year, there are approximately 11,000 applications to YoungArts from 15-18 year old (or grades 10-12) artists, and from these, approximately 700 winners are selected.

YoungArts provides these emerging artists with life-changing experiences and validation by renowned mentors, access to significant scholarships, national recognition and other opportunities throughout their careers to help ensure that the nation’s most outstanding emerging artists are encouraged to pursue careers in the arts. In addition, YoungArts is working with world-renowned architect and YoungArts Artistic Advisor Frank Gehry to transform the former Bacardi Tower and Museum buildings and three-and-a-half acre campus into its national headquarters, which will support expanded local activities in Miami and across the country.
