Arts Club of Washington Opens Three Pathways
Washington, DC (PRWEB) January 29, 2015 -- On February 6, 2014, the Arts Club of Washington (2017 I Street NW) will open Three Pathways, a solo show featuring the mixed media paintings by M. Jane Johnson. The shows, which run through Saturday, February 28, 2015, will open with a public reception on Friday, February 6, 6:30-8:30 PM.
Building layer upon layer, M. Jane Johnson works heavily in color, pattern and texture to create floral, figurative and abstract paintings. The title of the show, Three Pathways comes from her process, building layers of painting, collage, and drawing. As the layers build, the piece starts to reveal the direction it wants to go. Her paintings travel down one of three pathways as they come to completion: purely abstract, figurative, or abstract floral. She enjoys creating imagery that often is hard to distinguish and enjoys the conversations that engage viewers in understanding what she was trying to share.
M. Jane Johnson has been painting and drawing since she was a small child. She recalls spending many happy hours drawing as a child and loved her oil painting lessons. She received her BFA with a focus in painting. Previous shows include: The Art League, MPA Artfest, and Blackrock Center for the Arts.
The Arts Club of Washington has promoted and celebrated the visual, performing, and literary arts in the nation’s capital. Arts Club members come from a wide range of artistic disciplines and professional backgrounds, joined by their shared enjoyment and appreciation of the arts.
