Quincy, MA (PRWEB) September 04, 2013 -- Artscope Magazine's September/October issue introduces a new design. Bold color swooshes signal featured articles and artful arrangement of space, image and text enhance the reader's visual experience.
According to publisher Kaveh Mojtabai, "Artscope aims to be far-reaching and fresh. Our design consultants, who bring more than four decades of publication experience working with Fortune, Newsweek, Business 2.0, MacLife, Golf & Travel and NBA Inside Stuff magazines, as well as The New York Times, describe the swooshes like banners waving in the air to herald artscope's ability to inform the public of what's new in New England's diverse art world. The new typography in the magazine mirrors the more open, modern and democratic values of the publication. And the clean geometry of the pages highlights the exceptional imagery found in artscope's features, reviews and profiles."
The redesign introduces a new color-coded table of contents that sets a rhythm for the rest of the magazine. Articles are divided by type: features, reviews, "wanderlust," and editorials/events.
Artscope's digital edition interprets the redesign for iOS platforms to provide interactivity in addition to enhanced visual appeal. Starting with the September/October issue, the artscope digital edition incorporates an animated table of contents that assembles itself as the artscope logo emerges on the screen one letter at a time. Image transitions enhance the visual affect of pages with animation details. Embedded audio files allow readers to explore an article in more depth. The "centerfold page," which showcases the winning image in artscope's genre specific art competition that rotates every issue, now includes thumbnail images of secondary submissions by the winning artist. The listings section now includes active links to listers' external websites so readers can access more information about current events without leaving the issue. Finally, all primary images in the digital addition come equipped with a pan-and-zoom feature for a more detailed perspective.
The enhancements to artscope's magazine and digital edition bring the compelling content to life. The September/October issue includes articles about established and emerging artists from the region and around the world. The cover story, "Cart Unplugged," by Taryn Plumb, profiles Christopher Cart's solo exhibition, which celebrates the already renowned artist's adventures with new media as he builds his legacy. Donna Dodson's article, "Transforming African Modernism," about a Zimbabwean sculpture exhibit at the South Shore Art center, features artists, curators, and collectors that helped shape African modernism as it appears today.
Artscope fosters the arts through several sponsored events coming up in September and October. These include Pawtucket Art Market and Exchange Street Open Studios (September 7- 8) and the Provincetown Art Association and Museum's Gala (October 12.)
