As Oregon Wine Month 2017 Approaches, New Book Encourages Wine As Celebration, Not Coping Mechanism -- "BLUSH: Women & Wine"
(PRWEB) April 26, 2017 -- As of 2015, the Oregon wine industry contributed $3.3B to the Oregon economy, and with 18 approved wine growing regions, Oregon is home to more than 600 wineries and 900 vineyards. (http://www.oregonwine.org) Oregon Wine Month celebrates the many diverse wines produced in this world-class wine region. Just as the terroir of wine refers to the geologic characteristics of the soil in which the grapes are grown, and how they impact the taste of the wine made from those grapes, "Blush: Women & Wine" explores the terroir of women's wine drinking habits.
57% of wine consumption in America is ascribed to women. (Nielsen Spectra, 2016) And not all of that consumption is for celebration,as any woman can attest. What makes up the soil in which the misuse of wine grows? Author Molly Davis sought to answer the question personally, and encourages women to take an honest look at their own reasons for drinking wine.
Why do women choose to drink wine not as a way to celebrate, or compliment a good meal, but as a way to to check out from the pain and stress that life dishes up? Lela Davidson, best-selling author of "Blacklisted From The PTA" calls "BLUSH Women & Wine" a "fascinating exploration of the role wine plays in women's increasingly busy and pressured lives." She goes on to say that it "invites the reader to cultivate an awareness that mindless wine consumption can quietly approach the territory of crutch or habit."
Talking about wine is trendy. Talking about drinking too much of it is not. "This small but powerful and elegant book urges women to explore not so much why they pick up a glass of wine to begin with, but what's going on in their heads when they pour that second or third," says Barbara Hannah Grufferman, author of "The Best of Everything After 50" and AARP contributor. Not a book about alcoholism or never drinking wine again, it is a gentle invitation to drink wine for enjoyment rather than as a means of escape. Complete with a robust readers guide of questions for self-reflection and group discussion, "BLUSH: Women & Wine" pairs perfectly with book clubs and wine clubs alike.
