As Summer Heats Up, Whataburger Adds Cool, Fresh Avocado to Menu for a Limited Time
San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) July 01, 2013 -- For the first time ever, fresh avocado will be available to add to any Whataburger menu item starting at 3 p.m. today. To celebrate, Whataburger is also serving up for a limited time the new Avocado Bacon Burger, which features a 100 percent beef patty topped with avocado, creamy pepper sauce, tomatoes, onions, bacon and American cheese and is served on Texas Toast.
The addition of avocado comes from customer requests for the popular topping, as well as Whataburger’s commitment to offering variety to customers. In fact, prior to avocado’s introduction, Whataburger already calculated there were 36,864 ways to build a Whataburger. With avocado in the mix, it seems the possibilities are almost endless.
“Our customers’ feedback is really important, and they have asked us for avocado. With a fresh ingredient like avocado and our dedication to quality, it’s taken some time to make sure we get this right,” said Whataburger Vice President of Marketing and Innovation Rich Scheffler. “It’s a very natural complement to our menu, and we especially love the ingredients we’ve put together for the Avocado Bacon Burger. Whataburger’s version with our famous creamy pepper sauce and American cheese, and built on Texas Toast makes for a unique and delicious twist to a popular burger combination. It’s the ultimate sandwich for the avocado fan.”
As Whataburger looked more closely at its potential, it became clear avocado was a natural fit with the wide range of the company’s existing menu items – from burgers and chicken sandwiches to the Chicken Fajita Taco and salads.
ABOUT WHATABURGER:
Whataburger has focused on its fresh, made-to-order burgers and friendly customer service since 1950 when Harmon Dobson opened the first Whataburger as a small roadside burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas. Dobson gave his restaurant a name he hoped to hear customers say every time they took a bite of his made-to-order burgers: “What a burger!” Within the first week, people lined up around the block for his 25 cent, all-American beef burgers served on five-inch buns. Today, the company is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, with more than 740 locations in 10 states with sales of more than $1 billion annually.
