Asheville Solar Farm Company Breaks 800 MW Target for 2014

Green states that by developing the larger projects in the 50MW range, ISS has been able to cut installed costs to around $1.25/watt, some of the lowest in the industry. ISS sees investors getting returns in the double digits and the solar farm can also enhance any corporation’s public image when it comes to being good stewards of natural resources.
Large investors and owner operators seem to like the large size solar farms due to reduction in installed costs and lower soft costs being associated with each project. Green states that the smaller projects, 2MW to 6.5MW are still in great demand and that is one reason ISS has about 30 of them for sale in 2014. ISS is also partnering up with large companies and OEM’s on these large deals in a variety of ways. Large scale manufacturers like to get in on the ground floor of large solar farm projects so that they have a home for their equipment so Green says it’s just a natural fit to bring in the OEM’s as 50% partners on many of these large deals.
