Asheville Startups No Longer Need to “Go It Alone!”
Asheville, NC (PRWEB) July 27, 2016 -- The deck is stacked against startups and entrepreneurs. Fewer than 1 out of 10 startups make it past the three year mark. But those founders that learn from others are more successful, often raising seven times more money and growing at three times the typical rate.
Hatch Asheville plans to accelerate new venture learning by co-locating high growth potential startups under one roof in downtown Asheville at 45 South French Broad. Hatch provides space for key talent from the Asheville ecosystem, such as mentors, guides, lawyers, bankers, and investors. Hatch also houses key networking and training programs such as One Million Cups and Venture Asheville Elevate.
Founders can now learn from each other every day. Talent, training and resources come to them rather than Founders chasing what they need. Founders no longer need to “go it alone!”
Further, the 45 South French Broad campus is diverse and reflective of Asheville culture. The campus houses a rich mix of amenities on site such as Hopey & Co. grocery and coffee bar, Little Bee Thai Cafe, and Grail Moviehouse.
Hatch Asheville officially opened in July 2016 with three charter startups: Plum Print (plumprint.com), MobRocket (mobrocket.com), and Anthroware (anthroware.com). In early 2017, the number of companies will more than double, expanding from three to eight. Over the next several years, expansion will continue with the aim of co-locating a dozen or more companies, a number that will be firmed up as demand is assessed.
Candidates for these next phases of expansion must be high-growth, Asheville-headquartered businesses, with the interest and ability to pursue markets beyond Western North Carolina. They must also have passion to proactively support the mission of Hatch to build the startup ecosystem in Asheville.
Hatch Asheville is led by a diverse Board, comprised of local entrepreneurs, experienced advisors, local developers and community leaders: Chad Slagle - Mob Rocket; George Glackin - Business Innovation Guides, LLC; Jeremy Littlejohn - RISC Networks; Jon Jones – Anthroware; Josh Dorfman - Venture Asheville; Meg Ragland - Plum Print; Troy Ball – Troy and Sons Distillers; Charlie Ball – Ball Properties/Developer.
