Ashland University Posts 2013 Electronic Christmas Card
Ashland, Ohio (PRWEB) November 29, 2013 -- Millions of people across the globe have captured the Christmas spirit each year, thanks to the electronic Christmas cards that have been distributed by Ashland University since 2001.
Each year, Ashland University releases a new holiday e-card to all of its students, faculty and staff, alumni, friends and the larger community around the world. This year’s card, titled “The Lighting of the Christmas Tree,” was posted on the AU website and YouTube on Nov. 27.
To access this year’s card, go to http://ecard.ashland.edu/. The cards from the previous years also are available through that link by clicking on the View Gallery option.
The theme of this year’s card revolves around facilities management personnel putting Christmas lights on the Colorado blue spruce tree located between the Avenue of the Eagles and the Library.
“What makes this video so interesting is that the tree lighting was shot with time-lapse photography,” said Steve Hannan, director of public relations. “And while the lighting is occurring, you see appearances by AU cheerleaders, the AU choir and Tuffy, the Eagle mascot, as well as other happenings such as students wrapping gifts, the building of a snowman and people skating.”
Hannan said students, faculty and staff also brought canned goods to the video shooting, and these canned goods were stacked as a pyramid during the shooting and then donated to Pump House ministries.
“Each year people across the globe have been passing the AU e-card message along to the tune of between two and four million visits to the AU website,” Hannan said. “In 2007, more than 6.2 million people from 200 countries visited the website that hosts the cards.”
The Ashland University Communications and Marketing Department thanks all of the volunteers in this year’s video for their dedication and time commitment. “This could not have been accomplished without the support and dedication of many,” Hannan said.
Ashland University, which has been ranked in the top 200 colleges and universities in U.S. News and World Report’s National Universities category, is a mid-sized, private university conveniently located a short distance from Akron, Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio. Ashland University (http://www.ashland.edu) values the individual student and offers a unique educational experience that combines the challenge of strong, applied academic programs with a faculty and staff who build nurturing relationships with their students. ###
