Ashley Furniture Homestore donates 7 units of furniture to New Jersey Community Development Corporation
Paterson, NJ (PRWEB) November 12, 2014 -- Ashley Furniture HomeStores of Metro New York/New Jersey have partnered with the New Jersey Community Development Corporation (NJCDC) to help support the NJCDC efforts to provide proper housing for those in need. With one of the NJCDC’s core areas focusing in affordable and supportive housing, Ashley Furniture HomeStore of Metro New York/New Jersey is able to continuously provide a variety of furniture that help others get back on their feet.
Members of the Ashley CARE Team, an internal program created by employees to help support their local community, delivered items to the NJCDC team this October helping furnish 7 different housing units. Robert Guarasci, Chief Executive Officer of NJCDC, commented, “Ashley [Furniture HomeStore of Metro New York and New Jersey] is such a generous company, and it is hard to measure how much their contributions will mean to the homeless youth who will now have fully furnished units. Saying thank you hardly seems enough.”
The items donated by Ashley Furniture HomeStore of Metro New York/New Jersey included beds, nightstands, dressers, dinettes and accents chairs. Leslie Watkins, Human Resources Director of Ashley Furniture HomeStore of Metro NY/NJ stated, “Partnering with the NJ CDC has allowed us the opportunity to live out our core values and be stewards in the community. Through this relationship, we are expanding our efforts to go beyond donating furniture and committed to helping facilitate training sessions to empower young adults to lead successful lives on their own.” Session topics would include business etiquette, resume writing and interviewing.
New Jersey Community Development Corporation is a private, non-profit community development and social service agency founded in 1994 with a mission of creating opportunities to transform lives in the city of Paterson. NJCDC is focused on neighborhood revitalization, positive youth development, education, and affordable and supportive housing.
