Asian-American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) Applauds NCSL Resolution on Equitable Collection of Hotel Taxes
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) August 13, 2013 -- The Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) applauds the Executive Committee Task Force on State and Local Taxation of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) for passing a resolution calling on states to equitably enforce the collection of hotel taxes.
Specifically the NCSL Resolution calls for full collection of taxes that are due and to promote equity and fairness in the tax code. States should consider requiring OTCs to remit taxes based on the full rental price paid by the user.
“We greatly appreciate the recognition by state lawmakers that a level playing field, in which everyone selling a hotel room is treated similar, is the best public policy. Hotel owners have always paid their fair share of taxes and have only asked that every entity in a highly competitive hospitality marketplace play by the same rules,” said Fred Schwartz, AAHOA President. “We look forward to assisting legislators in every state as they begin the process of reforming tax policy. The National Conference of State Legislatures serves the legislatures of all 50 states. It is a bipartisan organization that provides research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues.
