Association of Independent Information Professionals Member, Deb Hunt, Co-Authors New Book on Career Advancement for Librarians
Baton Rouge, LA (PRWEB) November 26, 2013 -- Librarians who are currently unemployed, underemployed or stuck in a rut in their current jobs can find some help to advance their careers. "The Librarian's Skillbook: 51 Essential Career Skills for Information Professionals," a new book co-authored by AIIP member Deb Hunt, defines the 51 most sought-after library/information skills. The book—co-authored with David Grossman, MLS, MBA—teaches librarians how to acquire the essential skills they need to gain, or how to leverage their existing skillsets, to obtain a promotion, find and procure their dream job or embark upon a whole new career.
“The Librarian’s Skillbook” is based on Hunt and Grossman's award-winning “Expand Your Career Potential” workshop series, which has inspired and energized more than 1,100 librarians, information professionals and students worldwide through webinars hosted by the Special Library Association’s. Click University and many other local, regional or global library and information professional associations.
“Deb Hunt and David Grossman have contributed a very important work to the whole field of career management for all professional knowledge workers," says Guy St. Clair, President, SMR International and Knowledge Strategy Specialist, Columbia University.
AIIP President Jocelyn Sheppard concurs, adding, "More than half of the members of our association hold library and information science degrees. We applaud Deb Hunt and David Grossman for highlighting the potential benefits of an independent info pro career."
