Association of International Graduate Admissions Consultants Elects New Board of Directors
Soquel, CA (PRWEB) September 23, 2016 -- The AIGAC 2016-2017 Board of Directors began their new term August 1, 2016. Vince Ricci was elected as the association President for 2016-2017. Ricci has been an active AIGAC member since 2007.
Since the organization's founding in 2006, the board and membership have worked on a variety of initiatives to promote high ethical standards and professional development amongst graduate admissions consultants, increase public understanding of graduate admissions consulting, and enhance communication with complementary organizations and entities. This board has pledged to continue on this path, collaborating with schools, applicants and our partner organizations. The association is currently working on planning their 2017 Conference and developing an educational series for applicants on how to choose a consultant who fits their needs.
AIGAC currently has over 200 members representing various aspects of the graduate admissions industry, including consultants, test prep providers, and financial institutions. AIGAC 2016 – 2017 Board of Directors
Vince Ricci, AIGAC President, is a lifelong educator who has been recognized the Lyons Award for Service to Stanford University, where he earned his B.A. in History. In his first career as a classroom teacher and non-profit director, he won a Distinguished Teaching Award for the State of Louisiana and Non-Profit Program of the Year for the City of New Orleans. Before moving to Tokyo in 2002, Vince completed his M.A. in Digital Media Design for Learning at NYU. Vince has been a full-time admissions consultant since 2002. In 2007, he started his own consultancy. In 2014, Vince returned to Agos as Consulting Director because he wanted to share his insights with a talented team. In previous AIGAC Board roles, Vince has served as Treasurer and President-Elect. Currently, Vince is active in AIGAC's Communications, Conference, and Sponsorship Committees. Brett Haber, AIGAC President-Elect earned her MBA in Finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and her BA in Anthropology from Yale University. She spent the early part of her career as a management consultant advising executives across the U.S., Europe and Africa on behalf of firms such as Cap Gemini and Bain & Co. Ms. Haber has spent more than a decade in the field of MBA admissions. After completing her MBA, she served on the Wharton Admissions Committee, reading hundreds of applications, interviewing applicants across the U.S. and Asia and gaining an insider perspective into the admissions process at one of the world’s most competitive programs. Ms. Haber has been an active member of AIGAC since its inception and has personally helped thousands of business school applicants from across the globe gain acceptance to leading MBA programs. Andrea Sparrey, AIGAC’s Immediate Past-President, obtained an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in 2003. After 4 years as a Consultant with Bain & Company, where she took on increasing case and talent management responsibility, she founded Sparrey Consulting to counsel top young professional through their most challenging career choices. She coaches MBA Applicants, current students and recent alumni. A natural collaborator, Andrea can often be found on college campuses on both coasts evangelizing the need for candidates to seek professional advice on managing their biggest investment, their careers. Rachel Korn, AIGAC Treasurer and a 2017 and 2016 Annual Conference Co-Chair, has built her entire career in admissions. Following 7 years on the admissions staffs at the University of Pennsylvania, Brandeis University and Wellesley College, she moved to Tel Aviv, Israel in 2005 and founded her international consulting practice. Her education has been tailored to lead in the field, with a B.A. from Brandeis in English, including programs in Education and Women’s Studies, and an Ed.M in Higher Education Administration from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education. In addition to her work with graduate school applicants, she has written two books about surviving the college admissions process, earning interviews in several U.S. media outlets as an admissions expert. Scott Shrum, AIGAC Secretary, serves as Chief Operating Officer at Veritas Prep. He earned his BS from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. Scott has guided hundreds of applicants through the application process, mainly focusing on MBA admissions. Along with Omari Bouknight, he is the co-author of Your MBA Game Plan (now in its third edition), which has helped thousands of applicants with their applications since 2003. Scott has provided insights about the college and graduate school admissions process to media outlets including The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg Businessweek, Forbes, U.S. News & World Report, and The Financial Times. Michael Cohan, AIGAC Director, has served as the Sponsorship Chair for the 2015 and 2016 AIGAC Conferences in addition to serving on the 2014 Conference Planning Committee. Michael earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Communications from Northwestern University and his Master of Business Administration degree from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Based on the strength of his UCLA Anderson School application, UCLA Anderson selected Michael for a Dean’s Fellowship that paid for his first year of business school. Fewer than 10% of those attending the UCLA Anderson School of Management receive this award. Michael Cohan founded MBAPrepAdvantage in 2004 to provide the absolute best and most comprehensive MBA admissions consulting services available. Maxx Duffy, AIGAC Director, is a co-founder of the Association of International Graduate Admissions Consultants. A nine-year member of the board, Maxx has served as Secretary, Conference Co-Chair, and Governance Chair, and she currently serves as a member of the Governance Committee. Maxx is the founder and director of Maxx Associates, a pioneering firm in the field of graduate admissions consulting with a history that spans more than three decades. Maxx received her MBA from the Wharton School and her BA from the University of Pennsylvania. Shiela Locatelli-Wallace, CAE, CMP, is the AIGAC Executive Director and has consulted with and guided over 20 different organizations in a variety of industries; including, Education, Legal, Medical, Real Estate, Construction, and Philanthropic. She holds her Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation through the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) which required over 100 hours of continuing education in association law, administration, board guidance and organizational development.
