Dallas, TX (PRWEB) August 01, 2016 -- Astrapi Corporation is pleased to announce that the company was accepted as one of six finalists in the 2016 Telecommunication Industry Association (TIA) StartUp Challenge. Astrapi’s Spiral Modulation (SM) technology is based on exploiting the power of signal waveforms with continuously-varying amplitude. At the TIA Network of the Future conference in Dallas June 6-9, Astrapi presented the ability of Spiral Modulation to achieve dramatic bandwidth compression.
Astrapi’s R&D, for the first time, provides a firm theoretical and engineering basis for signals with non-stationary spectrum. Classical channel capacity theory implicitly assumes that signals have a spectrum which is stationary over a particular evaluation period. By challenging this assumption, Astrapi opens the door to much higher spectral efficiencies than were previously thought possible. Spiral Modulation can be used to create an entirely new type of signal transmission with transformative capabilities, known as Spiral Polynomial Division Multiplexing (SPDM). SM can also be applied to increasing the spectral efficiency of traditional signal modulation techniques with minimal re-design to existing radio architecture design.
“Our technology shows the potential to transform existing radios to be dramatically more spectrally efficient”, said Dr. Jerrold Prothero, Astrapi Founder and CEO. “We are honored to have been selected to presenting this capability at the TIA’s prestigious conference. TIA Startup Challenge is a perfect venue to showcase spiral modulation among industry experts.” The interest in spiral modulation reflects industry concerns with spectral capacity, signal synchronization, extended battery life and power-related issues as well as interference mitigation. All of these problems are addressable in a unique way with Astrapi technology.
ABOUT Astrapi Corporation
Astrapi is the pioneer of spiral-based signal modulation, which opens an unexplored area for innovation at the core of telecommunications. Based on a generalization of Euler’s formula, the foundational mathematics for telecom, Astrapi provides fundamentally new ways to design the symbol waveforms used to encode digital transmissions. By applying new mathematics to signal modulation, Astrapi is able to improve the trade-off between the four fundamental parameters in telecommunications: bandwidth, signal power, data throughput, and error rate. The resulting efficiency translates into higher spectral performance with more bits available at a lower cost.
