ASU Law Among Top Schools With Employed Graduates
Phoenix, Arizona (PRWEB) May 04, 2015 -- The Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University (ASU Law) ranks No. 14 among all law schools and No. 5 among public law schools in placing graduates in substantive jobs in the legal field.
Within 10 months of graduation, 87 percent of ASU Law class of 2014 graduates found employment in long-term, full-time positions where bar passage is required or a Juris Doctor (JD) is preferred. This is well above the national employment average of 71 percent, according to data collected by the American Bar Association (ABA) on the nation’s 204 ABA-accredited law schools.
ASU Law has taken a proactive approach to helping students and graduates get jobs. In the past year, the ASU Law Career Center has expanded its staff, brought in its own legal recruiter, and doubled the number of workshops, programs and networking opportunities it offers.
“I found and applied for my job as a patent attorney in San Diego through an ASU Law Career Center job posting,” said Daniel Hughes, who graduated in 2014 and is an associate at Knobbe Martens, a firm specializing in intellectual property law. “While I was a student, I appreciated the Career Center’s efforts in locating potential jobs for ASU students both in and out of Arizona.”
The school’s fall 2016 move to downtown Phoenix will position ASU Law to further increase job placement opportunities by taking advantage of its close proximity to the legal community and Arizona’s judicial and political center.
ASU Law is ranked No. 26 by U.S. News and World Report and is one of only 13 law schools with three programs—legal writing, health law, and dispute resolution—ranked in the top 12. ASU Law offers students the choice of more than 200 unique courses, 300 externships, and many clinical opportunities.
