ATGStores.com and Lowe’s Heroes Remodel Kids Outreach Center in Snohomish County
Kirkland, Washington (PRWEB) December 18, 2014 -- ATGStores.com expanded its “All That’s Good Deeds” program to include remodeling efforts in Snohomish County at a non-profit youth outreach center known as Cocoon House.
More than 30 ATGStores.com volunteers invested hundreds of hours into the project and the company has donated furniture, lighting, ceiling fans, storage and décor that will improve Cocoon House’s ability to serve area youth in need.
“We’re very happy to have the opportunity to work with Cocoon House,” said ATGStores.com Fulfillment Director Donna Miller. “We’ve coordinated donations before, but this was a chance for us to help in person and our employees really enjoyed the experience.”
The online retailer chose the Cocoon House remodel as its first Lowe’s Heroes project. Lowe’s Heroes is a company-wide volunteer initiative that offers Lowe’s employees the opportunity to work on a project in their own neighborhood, helping to make their communities better places to live, work and play.
Cocoon House was established in Snohomish County, Washington, in 1991 and is the county’s sole resource for serving homeless and at-risk youth. The facility houses more than 230 Seattle-area kids each year and provides street outreach, education, emergency shelter and case management to thousands more.
“Cocoon House is overjoyed with the support from ATGStores.com, and the emergency shelter has a whole new and fresh look,” said CEO Cassie Franklin. “We are so grateful for everything they did to make Cocoon House a true home for teens in need of emergency shelter.”
ATGStores.com also added many upgrades to the facility to help make it a more comfortable environment. Volunteers installed perimeter fencing and new fixtures, and improved lighting throughout the home.
