Athlete Network Announces Fall 2017 On-Campus Internship Program
Lenexa, KS (PRWEB) September 05, 2017 -- Athlete Network announced today the start to their Fall 2017 On-Campus Internship. With its largest group to date, 200 student-athletes from across the country have been accepted into the program and will participate in the 12-week internship, learning valuable lessons that will help propel them into their career after sports. This unique opportunity allows interns to participate from their own campus while virtually reporting and communicating with Athlete Network and fellow interns through texts, webinars, calls, as well as its own online network. Since its inception in Fall 2010, over 2,000 student-athletes from over 500 colleges and universities have participated in the Athlete Network On-Campus Internship. Community Relations Director, Marti Rosche, who is responsible for hiring more than 400 interns each year, is encouraged by the level of engagement between interns even prior the official internship start date.
“Our internship has become extremely competitive,” said Rosche. “I’m so impressed with the quality of this class, and know they will be tremendous advocates of Athlete Network and the athletic community on each of their campuses this semester and in their futures post graduation.”
All interns will have the opportunity to select tasks that will be beneficial in their own career path. Sample tasks include: meeting with athletic and community leaders, attending virtual webinars with experts in a variety of professional fields, creating marketing content, building and leveraging their own valuable network, among others.
Rankings of all 200 interns will be published each week, promoting a competitive environment where the student-athlete profile will thrive. Successful interns are included in the Athlete Network ‘Resume Book’ sent to all partner schools and employers. In addition, the top 10 percent will have the opportunity to interview with a partner employer to gain additional real world experience or a full-time job after graduation.
Athlete Network CEO Chris Smith is enthusiastic about this semester’s elite group of interns and the impact they are having on their fellow student-athletes.
“We’ve had over 2,000 interns in the history of our program and the relevancy and impact of this program continues to evolve each semester,” said Smith. “Without a doubt, this group of interns will set the bar high for future interns to follow in their footsteps. Their commitment, passion and inspiration are already coming through both online and on-campus. As part of Athlete Network's mission to help 5 million athletes gain meaningful careers, each intern will be empowered to prepare not only for their own life after sports, but impact their fellow teammates as well.”
Past interns have gone on to interview and accept internships and full-time employment at some of the nation’s top companies and organizations, including Stryker, ESPN, Charles Schwab, Northwestern Mutual, Enterprise, Wake Forest School of Business MA in Management program, and many more.
