Atlantic Salmon Federation to Host 24th Annual Fundraising Dinner in Freeport, Maine
St. Andrews, NB (PRWEB) February 26, 2014 -- The Atlantic Salmon Federation (ASF) will raise funding next month for important conservation and restoration work in Maine. A fundraising dinner that includes silent and live auctions and a raffle is scheduled for March 15 at the Harraseeket Inn in Freeport. The occasion will provide an opportunity to highlight some program successes such as the Penobscot River Restoration Project.
“The proceeds from the dinner will help fund the final phase of restoring the Penobscot River, a $62-million project that has been carried out over the past decade by a partnership of PPL Corporation, the U.S. Department of Interior, the Penobscot Indian Nation, the State of Maine, ASF and six other non-profit organizations,” says Andrew Goode, ASF’s Vice-President of U.S. Programs.
The Freeport dinner coincides with another big event in the area that weekend, which is the L.L. Bean Spring Fishing Weekend (March 14-16). The multi-day event will feature seminars, live demonstrations and family activities. L.L. Bean is one of the sponsors of the ASF dinner and is providing prizes for the auction.
Patagonia and Orvis have also generously contributed auction items to ASF’s dinner. There will be sporting trips, rods and reels, as well as artwork up for auction.
“This dinner is the ultimate cabin fever reliever,” says Goode,” It supports increased fish runs in Maine and future prospects for eleven species of sea-run fish, including wild Atlantic salmon, on the Penobscot.”
Tickets for the Freeport dinner are still available. The cost per ticket is $75 per person, for those under 18 - $35; a Conservation Ticket is $250, and a Patron Table costs $1,000. Donations are also most welcome.
