ATMAC Mechanical Brings the Heat on National Philanthropy Day
Plano, Texas (PRWEB) November 16, 2014 -- Employees at ATMAC Mechanical recognized National Philanthropy Day (Nov. 15) by performing 10 household furnace checks for west Dallas residents selected by Brother Bill's Helping Hand (http://www.bbhh.org). With the official day falling on a Saturday, the ATMAC crews performed the checks on Nov. 14.
“National Philanthropy Day is a good reminder that we all need to support each other on this day and every day,” said Jeff McBrayer, president and owner of ATMAC. “Volunteering always leaves me with a sense of accomplishment, and I look forward to being able to give my skills and time to my community.”
The furnace checks included changing filters, cleaning and adjusting the pilot lights, checking the heat exchanger for cracks and a site inspection for leaks. Two tech teams participated in the inspections.
Brother Bill's Helping Hand is a Christian nonprofit that was founded 75 years ago. The organization enhances the lives of those in need in west Dallas by providing services that will enhance their lives. This ranges from teaching English and Bible study to job training for women and free medical visits to providing basic life essentials. The nonprofit relies on the generosity of those in the community, such as ATMAC, to provide some of these services. In 2013, over 6,400 volunteers gave close to 20,000 hours to the ministry. The volunteers’ time is what makes events for children special and brings joy to neighbors young and old. McBrayer has worked with Brother Bill’s Helping Hand in the past through church events. He was so impressed by the organization that he wanted to get his employees involved, as well.
“These furnace checks were not just another day of work for the ATMAC crews. I hope the guys realize that they took a financial and safety burden off the minds of some worried homeowners,” McBrayer says.
ATMAC Mechanical has made volunteerism one its fundamental operating principles. McBrayer believes we all have a skill that can benefit our communities, and he strives to give back when possible.

With winter just around the corner a perfect example of this is the opportunity to have household furnaces checked by ATMAC techs. A few donated hours by an expert will give peace of mind to neighbors for months to come.
