ATRS Recycling Helps Marathoners ROCK RUN RECYCLE at the Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Marathon & 1/2
Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) January 13, 2016 -- American Textile Recycling Service (ATRS) is gearing up for the first Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series tour stop of 2016, hosted in Arizona. Nearly 23,000 runners, spectators and community members are expected to attend the event's Health & Fitness Expo on Friday and Saturday in preparation for Sunday's races.
As an exhibiting sponsor, the ATRS Green Team and Recycling Fairy will be at the Expo (Booth #225) both days to educate attendees about importance of clothing & shoe donations throughout Arizona and nine other states nationwide. Attendees are encouraged to stop by and donate their gently used, unwanted running gear, clothing and shoes. ATRS will also be handing out green swag, family-friendly recycling stickers and their famous apple-flavored lip balm to keep runners hydrated along the course.
On Sunday, ATRS employees and volunteers will be on the Half Marathon course in their signature bright green RECYCE HERE tees to collect all dropped warmup gear, including gently used sweaters, jackets, hats and gloves. This helps runners fight the cool early morning temperatures without having to carry their layers the full 13.1 miles. Every donation at the Expo and on the Course helps raise funding for local nonprofit organization Weldon House, a sanctuary serving women in transition rebuilding a healthy life for themselves and their children.
The half marathon course runs through three metropolitan areas including the City of Phoenix, which has an impressive goal of achieving a citywide diversion rate of 40% by 2020. Sustainability programs like the ROCK RUN RECYCLE Campaign make it easy and convenient for cities to accomplish these higher diversion rates.
Spectators, community members and runners who are participating in a race other than the Half Marathon can still help Arizona stay clean and green year round. ATRS operates Clothing & Shoe Donation Bins all throughout the state that benefit either Weldon House or the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Southern Arizona Affiliate.
