Attorney Bert Louthian’s New Website Provides Resources Educating Potential Whistleblowers and Encouraging them to Expose Fraud Against the Government.

Those who help shed light on fraud against the government are awarded a portion of the recovered amount, typically between 15 to 30 percent. For recoveries that end up totaling millions and, in some cases, billions of dollars, the awards can result in substantial payments to whistleblowers.
Medicare alone experienced fraud, waste and abuse that cost taxpayers $60 billion dollars in 2014, roughly 10 percent of the program’s budget, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. In 2015, the Department of Justice reported nearly $2 billion dollars in settlements and judgements from civil cases involving fraud and false claims against federal health care programs.
Louthian’s website provides information to help educate whistleblowers and provide resources that they might find valuable in making the decision to come forward about fraud they have witnessed, he said.
