Attorney David J. Maloney Educates Drivers on Sobering New Year’s Drunk-Driving Statistics
Mobile, AL (PRWEB) December 28, 2015 -- According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), over the past decade, almost two of every five, or 41%, deaths that occur around the New Year’s holiday were alcohol-impaired drivers. Additionally, during last year’s holiday season alone, 830 lives were lost in drunk-driving crashes. Additionally, according to Life Tips, one person is killed every half-hour due to drunk driving and alcohol is a factor in almost half of all traffic fatalities.
“Statistics don’t lie, but these alarming numbers can be exponentially reduced by simply not drinking and driving,” said Maloney, who focuses on DUI victims. “Always keep in mind that there are alternatives to drinking and driving, such as taking a taxi, appointing a designated driver, calling Uber, etc.”
Maloney also cautions bars, restaurants and social hosts that serve alcohol to already intoxicated individuals to refrain from said activities, as there are law firms, such as Maloney-Frost, LLP, that aggressively pursue cases against not only irresponsible drunk drivers but the people or establishments that serve them. This practice, adds Maloney, who is well-known for his unwillingness to represent drunk drivers despite being a litigation lawyer, is not only important on New Year’s Eve but every day of the year.
“Drunk drivers choose to be irresponsible, and the person who continues to serve an already intoxicated individual is acting equally irresponsible,” said Maloney. “I highly encourage everyone to pledge not to drink and drive as well as not to serve alcohol to an already inebriated person.”
