Attorney Tom Cook Joins Harrisburg Workers’ Compensation Law Firm
Harrisburg, PA (PRWEB) November 14, 2013 -- Bringing with him over 29 years of experience as an attorney representing injured workers in Workers’ Compensation and Social Security Disability cases, Thomas Cook has joined Calhoon & Associates, a Pennsylvania workers’ compensation firm. In addition to his depth of experience, he is AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated, which is the highest ethical and competency rating given by Martindale-Hubbell, a distinction that is rarely awarded by the 140 year old lawyer rating service. He has also been selected as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer®.
For four years, Attorney Thomas Cook served as the Director of the Pennsylvania Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, where he supervised the entire workers’ compensation system in Pennsylvania. This role included hiring judges, supervising insurance companies and self-insured employers, and streamlining the litigation process. He has taught Workers Compensation Practice and Procedure as an adjunct professor at Temple and Widener Law Schools, and in 1987, he published a law review article on Workers Compensation psychiatric claims for the Notre Dame Law Review.
Each June, Mr. Cook co-teaches a workshop on Workers’ Compensation topics at the annual Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Conference in Hershey, PA. And to help medical providers understand the workers’ compensation medical billing process, he authored “Workers’ Compensation: A Guide For Pennsylvania Physicians”, published by the Pennsylvania Medical Society.
In his spare time, he enjoys kayaking and fishing on the beautiful Susquehanna River with his two sons and is an active musician, currently playing mandolin with the Harrisburg Mandolin Ensemble, as well as with the Horst Brothers, a Lancaster County Bluegrass Gospel group. Mr. Cook also enjoys playing the mandolin banjo in the annual New Year’s Day Mummers Parade in Philadelphia with the Greater Overbrook String Band.
