Attorney Yung Frank Chiang Recognized for Commitment to Legal Education
NEW YORK, Feb. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Yung Frank Chiang is a distinguished biographee of Marquis Who's Who. A widely regarded educator in the field of law, Mr. Chiang teaches at Fordham University School of Law. In this position, he draws upon more than four decades of experience as a professor of law. Although Mr. Chiang began his legal career as an attorney in Taiwan, he eventually relocated to the United States, where he was admitted to practice by the New York State Bar Association in 1974.
A respected voice in the legal community, Mr. Chiang has contributed numerous articles to law journals pertaining to his areas of focus. He recently published a book entitled "The One-China Policy: State, Sovereignty, and Taiwan's International Legal Status." (Elsevier, Oxford, England, 2017). Throughout the course of his career, he has served as an editor with the Lawyers Cooperative Publishing Company and Research Associate in Law at Harvard Law School. Mr. Chiang previously served as an assistant professor with the University of Georgia School of Law from 1967 to 1972. He initially joined Fordham University as an associate professor in 1972, rising to the rank of professor within four years. For more than ten years, Mr. Chiang also served as the president of the Law Faculty Union (1999 to 2010).
Prior to pursuing a career in American law, Mr. Chiang received a Bachelor of Laws from National Taiwan University in 1958 and was admitted to practice in Taiwan by the Taiwan Bar Association. He briefly served as an associate with the Yen & Lai Law Office in Taipei, Taiwan. Upon relocating to the United States in 1961, he attended Northwestern University, where he received Master of Laws in 1962, and the University of Chicago, where he completed a JD in 1965.
Mr. Chiang has held a wide range of international academic appointments, including a joint appointment as Visiting Professor with Chuo University and the Japan Comparative Law Institute (Tokyo) in 2005. He previously assisted People to People International as a leader of the New York Judge and Lawyers Delegation to China and Hong Kong, and as an organizer and moderator for the five Russian delegations to the United States as part of the People to People Ambassador Program between 1994 and 1995.
For more than two decades, Mr. Chiang was involved in civic and professional organizations. In late 1970's and 1980's, he served as an organizer and a member of the board of directors with the Taiwan Merchants Association of New York. In addition, he was recognized as president of the organization from 1980 to 1984. During the same period, he served as an arbitrator at National Association of Securities Dealer, Inc. In early 1980's, Mr. Chiang also joined with associates to organize Asia Bank, N.A., where he served as a legal consultant, vice chairman and member of the board of directors from 1983 to 1988. In 1980, he joined North America Taiwanese Professors' Association (U.S.) and in the 1990's served as a member of its Board of Directors (1994-1996, 1997-2000), the Vice-President (1977-1978) and the President (1998 to 1999).
In recognition of his commitment to the field of law, Mr. Chiang was selected to receive the 20th Century Achievement Award by the International Biographical Centre in 1995. He has been featured in a variety of honors publications, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, and Who's Who in the World. Since the inception of his career, Mr. Chiang has stressed the importance of the law, which he believes to be an integral part of promoting peace and justice in society.
