Auction Industry Leaders Shine at National Convention
Nokomis, Illinois (PRWEB) July 23, 2015 -- MarkNet Alliance member auctioneers and partners received high honors and leadership appointments at the annual National Auctioneer Association (NAA) Conference and Show held July 14-18 in Addison, Texas.
Long-time auctioneers and business owners, Danny Ford, GRI, CAI, (Kentucky) and Sherman Hostetter Jr., CAI, AARE, GPPA, GRI, CES, SRES, (Pennsylvania) were inducted into the NAA Hall of Fame at the President’s Gala. To earn this lifetime achievement, inductees must be nominated by a peer and then chosen by a panel of past recipients of the prestigious award. Introduced by their close peer and mentor, inductees were unaware of the honor before hearing their names announced then were joined on stage by a surprise processional of family, friends and business associates.
J. Christopher Pracht IV, CAI, AARE, CES, (South Carolina) and Traci Dower, CAI, AARE, (Tennessee) received the President’s Award of Distinction from NAA Immediate Past President Tom Saturley, CAI, (Maine) in recognition of their conduct that has distinguished the auction profession and National Auctioneers Association. Pracht also received this award in 2004, making him the only two-time recipient of this esteemed honor.
Devin Ford, CAI, CES, (Kentucky) ran unopposed and was elected NAA Treasurer and Matt Corso, CAI, CES, (Illinois) was elected from a ticket of four candidates to fill one of two seats on the NAA Board of Directors. Ford will serve a two-year term and Corso will serve a three-year term. Jason Winter, CAI, AARE, CES, (Missouri) was elected Chairman of the Education Institute Trustees. Angela Johnson (Georgia) took the reigns as National Auctioneers Auxiliary President.
Dustin Rogers, CAI, (North Carolina), took home 1st Runner-up in the International Auctioneer Championship (IAC), Men’s Division. Emily Wears, BAS, ATS, (Wyoming), nabbed 2nd Runner-up in the Women’s Division. In the International Junior Auctioneer Championship contest, Tyce Freije finished 2nd Runner-up among his peers. Contestants are judged on their bid calling skills, showmanship and interview questions.
Nolan Bell, CAI, (Pennsylvania) was recognized as an up-and-coming leader in the auction industry at the IAC, receiving the Bob Steffes Rising Star Award.
Committed to education endowment among young adults in the auction industry, the NAA Auxiliary awards annual scholarships. This year two young auctioneers with ties to MarkNet Alliance member companies, Payton Bjorkman (Wisconsin) and Preston Provins (Tennessee), received scholarships.
