Auctioneers Convention Attracts World Famous Television Auctioneer and Hosts 26th Annual Michigan Auctioneer Championship
Lansing, Michigan (PRWEB) January 14, 2014 -- Hundreds of professional auctioneers from across the Midwest including arguably the greatest auctioneer on the planet, two-time World Champion auctioneer, Shane Ratliff will travel to Lansing, Michigan for the Michigan Auctioneers Association Annual Conference. The conference will take place from January 28-30, 2014 at the Best Western Plus in Lansing, Michigan.
Highlights of the conference include educational seminars including the all new, Professional Negotiators Series, The 89 Minute Blitz, A President’s Banquet, Hall of Fame Ceremony, Awards, Scholarships and a highly esteemed Fun Auction which is open to the general public are also cornerstones of the conference.
The most popular feature of the annual event is the Michigan Auctioneers Championship and the Michigan Ringman Championship which is open to the general public free of charge. The competitions attract some of the best professional auctioneers and professional ringmen in the Midwest whom participate in a lively competition for the coveted crowns.
One of the star attractions to the annual convention include, the rare guest appearance of two-time World Champion auctioneer, Shane Ratliff. Ratliff gained world-wide prominence being one of the lead auctioneers for the Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auctions on The Speed Channel. In addition, Mr. Ratliff oversees over 600 auctions annually. A private mentoring and autograph session will take place with Mr. Ratliff during the convention.
Another prominent speaker includes the great negotiator from Eureka, Montana, John Hamilton. Mr. Hamilton is the highest rated speaker in the history of the Michigan Auctioneers Association. The professional speaker, real estate expert and author has conducted negotiating workshops in 49 of the 50 states and 6 Canadian provinces. He has also been on the Certified Auctioneers Institute faculty for over 15 years.
Also present is, auction law attorney, Steve Proffitt. Proffitt is Vice President and general counsel of J.P. King Auction Company in Gadsden, Alabama. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law and his practice emphasizes auctions, contracts, commercial law, litigation, and torts. Mr. Proffitt has taught seminars on law and ethics in 30 states and several Canadian provinces. A prolific writer, Mr. Proffitt writes approximately 100 articles annually for numerous trade publications. He has been interviewed by numerous media outlets about legal and ethical issues relating to auctions, including The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Money Magazine, Forbes, and MSNBC. In 2004, the National Auctioneers Association awarded him its President’s Award of Distinction.
Multiple award winning auctioneer, David Helmer will host a 1.5 hour educational presentation on Plymouth, Michigan BB Guns from Markham, King and Daisy. Professional auctioneer, Bill Loomis will host a seminar on ‘Salesmanship for the Auctioneer.’
