August House Partners with the Discovery Learning Alliance
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) September 25, 2017 -- August House is pleased to partner with the Discovery Learning Alliance (DLA) in order to share our animated folktales with young, emerging readers in Africa. The animated videos will be stored and distributed by the Discovery Learning Alliance on a thumb drive library, along with other educational content for educators to use with their students. Educators will have access to the Story Cove animated folktales in approximately 1,500 primary schools in Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya, serving marginalized communities in urban, peri-urban, and rural areas.
Discovery Learning Alliance is a non-profit organization that uses the power of media to transform education and improve lives in marginalized communities around the world. August House is pleased to announce our partnership with DLA for the purpose of sharing our Story Cove animated folktales to help support long-term, sustainable education interventions in developing countries.
The videos will be prepared specifically for these schools and used during literacy lessons, as well as for after-school literacy clubs through the DLA Learning Center platform. Teachers will use these videos to help develop core literacy skills and foster a love of reading. The content will be used for storytelling and re-telling, story sequencing, vocabulary development, fluency and comprehension in both first and second language programs. In addition, the animated stories will be creatively adapted to various levels and used as a springboard for post viewing “reading” activities.
