About the Author
Alexander V. Avakov was born in the U.S.S.R in 1954, in the family of engineers. Since an early age, he had been curious and interested in economics and philosophy. He had studied for five years in the Mathematical Department of the Ural State University in Sverdlovsk. At the final year at the university, he distributed pamphlets with a liberally-minded critique of the Soviet system. He was arrested and accused of “Anti-Soviet Agitation and Propaganda.” He was sentenced to one and a half years of hard labor. During his incarcerations, he expanded his education. In 1981, he was allowed to emigrate in the U.S.
He has had a successful career as a computer programmer and has travelled extensively abroad. He is now a VP, Senior Systems and Database Architect at an international software company. He has published books both in Russian and in English.
