Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Bonnie Ortega’s new book centers around a woman named Geena. Looking back and thinking about some of the hurtful and trying times of her past, Geena became more and more intrigued with the saying, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!”. Although she had heard it many times when she was very young, she never felt the need to question more than its literal meaning. She believed that it meant that if something bad happened to her, a glass of ice cold lemonade would make her feel better, just as simple as that!
It was not until much later in her life that Geena put a lot more thought into the deeper meaning of "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!”. She came to the realization that those seven words have had a profound effect on her life and the woman that she has become. As she traveled on her journey throughout life, Geena faced very traumatic events, such as physical and emotional abuse, feelings of not being loved, the death of a loved one, an unfaithful spouse, and, most unsettling, her loss of faith in Jesus Christ.
Geena often questioned how much lemonade it would take to make her feel better. To help gain a better understanding of the healing power of lemonade, Geena will share how she survived the traumatic and hurtful times in her life, some of which may have given her just cause to give up on herself and on life. To simply survive, she had sweetened her lemonade with understanding and love. It wasn't until many, many years later that she came to the realization that she was missing two very important ingredients in her recipe.
