Author Carol Thomas, Ph.D. Gives Voices to Women in New Book
PALM COAST, Fla. (PRWEB) June 15, 2015 -- In her powerfully insightful anthology of poems, award-winning author Carol Thomas, Ph.D. uncorks the figurative bottle of prejudice, bias and inequity to free the long-held voices of women in contemporary culture and throughout history. "Womanspeak: Voices from an Archaeology of Silence New and Collected Poems" (published by Xlibris) explores and addresses the hidden truths and realities of modern society.
Empowering women through poetry, the book offers a delightful cornucopia of prose-poems based on women's lived experience, examining the multicultural aspects of women's lives within a poetic context. Thomas draws from a lifetime of literary passion and an intensive knowledge in the fields of therapeutic studies to tackle the issues that warrant urgent attention and action - most of which, the author believes, can be gradually remedied through a shift in perspective and perhaps a little reconsideration of human values.
"We cannot thrive within a culture of distress," Thomas observes, "but when we work together, there can always be ways for this to be ameliorated: an increase in compassion - individually and collectively, a rehabilitation of language and the inclusion of women's perspectives."
Striking deep into the core of present-day feminist concerns via the fundamental nuances of art, "Womanspeak: Voices from an Archaeology of Silence New and Collected Poems" offers readers the opportunity to hear women through their "precocious, uncanny and uniquely poetic language."
