ST. PAUL, Minn. (PRWEB) September 20, 2016 -- In her newly released book, “The Great Big Diet Lie: Why Diets Backfire and How to Eat Enough to Lose Weight for Good” (published by Heartland Book Company), obesity and eating disorders specialist Jean Antonello, RN, BSN, argues against the belief that eat-less exercise-more dieting leads to lasting weight loss. According to research this is false 95% of the time, she says.
In an effort to solve her own 17-year yo-yo diet history, Antonello sought answers in the Theory of Adaptation – a scientific concept at the core of her education at the University of Minnesota. When she applied the adaptation principles to her dieting experience she saw dieting from a new perspective – as a physical threat to her survival.
Ultimately, Antonello discovered that dieting was actually causing her weight to rebound because her body adapted to her food-restricted diets by storing survival fat. Armed with these new insights, Antonello began to cooperate with her body instead of battling it by dieting, and finally lost weight for good.
When Antonello discovered why she couldn’t stay slim after dieting, she realized that all dieters are trapped as she had been. Her research reveals traditional dieting as basically flawed – that restricted eating itself violates the body’s survival needs and sets dieters up to fail. Knowing countless other dieters have tried and failed at permanent weight loss, Antonello releases her fourth book on the subject, “The Great Big Diet Lie,” to share the principles of recovery with struggling dieters everywhere.
