Author H.L. Lamb’s Newly Released “The Saga of Jorgen, BOOK 1 THE GRANDFATHER” Is The Story Of An Eighth Century Orphan’s Salvation And Rise To Fame Thanks To God
(PRWEB) September 01, 2017 -- “The Saga of Jorgen, BOOK 1 THE GRANDFATHER”: a chronicle of a boy’s salvation and the rise of Christianity in pagan Denmark. “The Saga of Jorgen, BOOK 1 THE GRANDFATHER” is the creation of published author, H.L. Lamb. H.L. Lamb was born in Pembroke, Georgia to Eben and Bertie (Coleman) Lamb. Being one of eight children born to sharecroppers, he relates to the subsistence lifestyle the villagers in Ribe, Denmark suffered. It was not an easy life. He found comfort in books, especially history books. Early on, he developed a love for geography and tales of travels to places far away from South Georgia poverty. He married at a young age and had four children. When that marriage failed, he moved to South Arkansas where he met and married Janice Olive. They have one son together. H.L. worked as an electrical lineman, truck driver, and a dispatcher for an oil-service company before he retired. He and Janice attend Canfield Baptist Church. He was saved in 1967.
“He pulled his sheepskin jacket a little tighter around himself. Coming out early this morning, he was hoping there would be no fog … but there was. The Knorrs, big trading ships, always blew a ram’s horn when entering the river, but the Viking longships never did. The old ones told tales of these wild ones, the Vikings, entering Ribe … robbing, killing, and plundering; the villagers feared them.” --H.L. Lamb
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, H.L. Lamb’s new book chronicles the development of Ribe into a thriving seaport, Christianity coming to Denmark, and the salvation of Jorgen Haagen.
During the early Eighth Century, Jorgen Haagen was born in the Southwestern settlement of Ribe, Denmark. Six years after his birth and his mother’s death, his father disappeared while on a hunting trip. Jorgen was shuffled from one kin to the next, forced to earn his keep through hard labor, and shunned by the villagers. Life was hard as tragedy always seemed to follow Jorgen.
The only tokens Jorgen had from his father were small wooden carvings of animals that his cousins stole. Jorgen’s only desire was to own a knife of his own, so he could learn how to carve like his father. When an older boy in Ribe is orphaned, he befriends Jorgen and introduces him to a blind elder named Seig Lather, who is the only Christian around. Seig introduces Jorgen to God, Jesus Christ, and the Book. Through the power of God, Jorgen becomes famous for the figureheads he carves for ships.
