Author Jack C. Wray asks ‘Who Really Saved Savannah?’

Wray thinks that so much has been written about the Civil War which, for him is not correct and is being positioned in public school education, Hollywood and higher education in colleges and universities misrepresenting the Southern Cause. He also believes that tourism in Savannah is skewed with stories that are not true. Wray claims that beginning on December 10, 1864, with 62,000 Union troops arriving on the west side of Savannah and another 42,000 across the river in Carolina, Savannah was outnumbered by about 6.5-1. Even though the city was protected by 10,000 Confederate troops, they are still outnumbered over 14-1. A harrowing escape from being burned by the Union was the result of a paradoxical incident involving a most unlikely person. This story unfolds in providential grace like a string of dominos lined up and falling one by one in the city’s favor. The surprising paradox unfolds at the end of the book in answer to the question as to who really saved Savannah.
