Author Lynn M. Stevens’s Newly Released “Wrestling with Sovereignty” Reaffirms the Presence of God and the Need for Faith When Facing Overwhelming Hardships
WILLISTON, N.D. (PRWEB) February 06, 2018 -- “Wrestling with Sovereignty”: the story of how one family’s faith was strengthened in the face of overwhelming trials by God’s sovereign touch. “Wrestling with Sovereignty” is the creation of published author, Lynn M. Stevens. Lynn M. Stevens and her husband, Harry, currently live in the Williston, North Dakota area where they work in the oil fields. They have five children, ten grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
“Is God really sovereign? Is he sovereign enough for my messy life? It’s always easy to trust, to love, and sing praises to God when life is smooth and easy. But when the walls start closing in, when you lose your business and your home and you move away from your adult children and grandchildren, can you trust God with all that pain and uncertainty?” --Lynn M. Stevens
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Lynn M. Stevens’s new book depicts her personal struggle with faith in the face of adversity.
“You number my wanderings; put my tears into your bottle.” (Psalms 56:8)
A mysterious illness was killing author Lynn M. Stevens’s husband right before her eyes. All she could see were the scary questions looming over their future. She had no idea what she would do if Harry died and left her alone in North Dakota. She was struggling with back issues that required multiple surgeries. When her Mother died suddenly, she was riddled with grief, guilt, and an inability to forgive her mother for the many secrets surrounding her passing. She had no idea what she should do with her Father. She did not know if they would return to a normal life in the oil fields of North Dakota.
Above all, Lynn wrestled with the idea that if God truly is Sovereign over all things, then she must learn to trust Him and lean on Him through any storm that came into their lives without fear. What she saw was God at work in all every detail of her life. He was there walking beside her and her family, even when they were losing their grip on their faith. When they were at their weakest, God was at His strongest. His sovereign touch was there. Ultimately, they learned that there is security and a future filled with hope and peace in Him alone. A king does not abdicate his throne when his people go through a battle. It is then that he shows his true strength, his compassion, his supremacy, so his people have someone to follow. It is then when God’s sovereignty is most apparent.
