A Story of Survival, Hope and Healing” is the creation of published author, Mary Ann Rody, former kindergarten teacher, administrator, human resource manager, vice president, and COO of a local childcare chain. Rody is married with three adult children in Ohio where she currently serves as executive director of a state association of childcare providers. She is also a consult and grant-writer for a local nonprofit charity. Rody has a BA in Psychology from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio. Rody has coauthored the books entitled “Inspiring Space for Young Children” and ”Rating Observation Scale for Inspiring Environments.” She has also presented at local and national conferences as well as served on various professional boards.

“Breathless” is the story of a woman who faced a terrifying and uncertain fate. She was a mother, wife, and business executive who was successful, busy, happy, and healthy when she suddenly found herself struggling to survive on life support. Placed in a medically induced coma for a month as doctors frantically searched for a cause, her chances of survival grew dimmer and dimmer. As her husband, family, and dear friends saturated her with prayer, God miraculously spared her life.
She recovers from the coma and ARDS, but awoke completely paralyzed. After a year of physical therapy, endless prayers, and the support of dear friends, she regained mobility, but her twenty-six-year career was gone. In “Breathless. A Story of Survival, Hope and Healing,” the author shares her story of battling rejection, depression, and the loss of identity by staying strong in hope, faith, and trust in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
