There, she faces some of her family’s darkest secrets. In the painful grieving process, America finds faith and her true calling.
“Volver Is to Return” addresses some of the biggest challenges faced by advocates of children’s rights today in many developing countries, where children are being exploited through child labor, deprived of an education and living in extreme poverty. This book also provides insights into diverse cultures such as in India, Peru, Vietnam and Uruguay.

About the Author
Rebeca Rios-Kohn is a native of Uruguay and a French citizen with over 25 years of experience in human development, human rights and children’s rights. She received a Juris Doctor from the T. C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond in Virginia and practiced law in Virginia and New York. Thereafter, she joined the United Nations where she held several senior level positions with UNICEF and UNDP. During her years with UNICEF, she focused on advocating for children’s rights and led a number of advocacy campaigns in many parts of the world to promote the Convention on the Rights of the Child. She co-authored “Protecting the World’s Children,” a UNICEF publication. Her dedication and commitment to the cause of children has led her to work in over 30 countries around the world including Bolivia, Cambodia, Jordan, Mali, Montenegro, Morocco, Nepal, Panama, Peru, Serbia, Tanzania, Ukraine and Vietnam. Rios-Kohn has two daughters and currently lives in Sag Harbor.
