Author Releases Memoir About Growing Up in War Zone, Overcoming Trauma
SYDNEY (PRWEB) September 18, 2017 -- An Australia-based chef and writer has published a memoir that chronicles her experience growing up in a war zone, immigrating to another country, being bullied as a teenager and suffering domestic abuse at the hands of her spouse in her 20s. In “Cinnia’s Story,” author Lily Violet imparts her true story of overcoming dire circumstances to achieve healing, personal growth and happiness.
Born in 1987, Violet delineates some of her earliest memories of the love she shared with her parents and brother as a young girl. But when a dangerous military conflict in her country ignites during the early 1990s, the author and her family are forced to live under the constant threat of violence, which claims the life of her grandfather. After relocating to Australia and suffering abuse by her first husband, Violet must find a way to heal despite struggling with depression and suicidal ideations.
“I wrote this book in hopes that my story will inspire others who feel lost and alone,” Violet said. “We cannot control our lives or what happens to us, but we can choose to believe in ourselves, we can choose not to give up when it gets hard and we can accept that we are broken but rise stronger and wiser.”
