Author Tommy Walton Explores Racial Inequality
GREENVILLE, S.C. (PRWEB) June 29, 2016 -- Author Tommy Walton found, not without some astonishment, that racial inequality still exists and tolerated by citizens of the attendance area for 80 years. In his book, “ELIMINATING THE EVILS OF GERRYMANDERING AFTER 80 YEARS OF HELL” (published by Xlibris), he illustrates how activists successfully abolished the separate school districts of Howard County, Arkansas. This change removed the barriers which prevented educationally deprived children, irrespective of their race, ethno background, or socio-economic status, from full access to the educational opportunities provided at public expense.
During the period of research while writing his book, it became clear to Walton that many children across the nation still attend racially separate, unequal schools. Although desegregated by law, black and white children are still separated by family economic status and where they can afford to live, clearly supporting the fact that separate assigned territory dictates economic inequality. This book cites a unique example of district consolidation, school desegregation and other practices bearing upon solutions to the problems that are presently being revealed by citizens who have been deprived of their rights for so many years.
