Schroeder admits that some events that happened in her life when she was still a teenager up to becoming an adult inspired her to write “Come Back, Joe-Jo: Shining a Light on Life” (published by Xlibris), a novel about the realities of life on the farm during the 60s.
This book tells the story of Judy Turner, a young farm girl who faces many losses and is relying on her wise father to make sense of it all. When an indescribable loss hits the entire Turner family, grief takes hold with the strength to destroy them. New ways of coping that are unfamiliar to them become their only hope of living through the heartache. Always relying on her father’s wisdom, the time comes for him to use her cue to live through his deepest heartache. This novel, loosely taken from actual events, takes readers from the world of a 14-year-old to an adult. Many woes and joys in her life are exposed and dealt with.

About the Author
V. Schroeder grew up on a farm in Northern Illinois. She and her husband, Frank, reside in the small town she has called home for her entire life. They have four rescue cats. Her son, Adam, is deceased. She has a daughter, April. Her joy has found spending time with her four grandchildren and daughter and son-in-law. She loves going to church where she finds peace, love and direction. An avid animal lover, gardener, “chef”, hairdresser and now writer, she rarely is bored. She rescues what needs to be and thanks God daily. She uses her late father’s surname to honor him.
