Autism Speaks Take Participants 23 Stories "Over The Edge" at Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn's Landing Hotel
Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) August 20, 2013 -- Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing will host the inaugural Over the Edge with Autism Speaks event in Philadelphia on Saturday, August 24th. Individuals walking the Penn’s Landing waterfront will have another amazing sight to see, 23 stories up as they witness thrill seekers rappelling down the side of the Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing to raise money for Autism Speaks’ mission.
From local executives and media personalities to family and friends of individuals with autism, these dare devils will brave new heights to generate vital funds for autism research and help raise awareness about the nation’s fastest-growing serious developmental disability that now affects one in 88 children, including one in 54 boys.
This is all part of a very exciting fundraiser for Autism Speaks, the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization. It is dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism; increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families.
This is the first time that Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing has partnered with Autism Speaks for the inaugural, Over the Edge with Autism Speaks event in Philadelphia. Over 75 individuals will be signed up to scale down the side of the Hyatt on August 24th to help benefit Autism Speaks. “We are proud and pleased to work in partnership with Autism Speaks and Over the Edge to support the important work done by their staff and volunteers every day” said Mike Costello, General Manager, Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing.
To secure a rope, each participant in Philadelphia is required to a raise a minimum of $1,000 for the opportunity to go OVER THE EDGE WITH AUTISM SPEAKS! Only 76 slots are available and will go to the first people who register. Participants must weigh between 110 and 300 pounds.
