Avalon Precision Metalsmiths Earns AS9100 Certification at 2nd Plant
JACKSON, Wis. (PRWEB) June 29, 2016 -- Avalon Precision Metalsmiths has earned AS9100 certification for its Jackson, Wis., investment casting plant, which will enable the company to expand its work with aerospace companies.
The Cleveland, Ohio-based metal casting company previously earned AS9100 certification for its Markesan, Wis., facility, which uses a vacuum-assist process to cast very small parts, typically less than 1 inch and up to 5-6 lbs., for a variety of markets, including non-flight components for aircraft.
The addition of AS9100 certification for the Jackson facility enables the company to better service its existing aerospace clients with investment castings of metal parts up to 50 lbs., said Tony Ansorge, director of operations for the Jackson plant.
“Our Markesan facility does a great job producing very high-quality parts for the aerospace industry, but is limited in the size parts they can produce,” Ansorge said. “Completing this certification process in Jackson enables us to better serve existing aerospace customers and provides the confidence for customers in other industries that we meet the highest quality standards.”
The facility previously earned ISO 9001:2008 certification in the late 1990s.
In addition to producing metal castings for the aerospace and defense industries, Avalon’s Jackson facility manufactures a wide variety of highly polished, cosmetic parts for the food service and recreational vehicle and industrial markets, including polished handles for beverage dispensers, faucet hardware and chrome parts for motorcycles.
“We’re proud of the quality system we’ve developed and the skilled labor we employ that enables our company to be the provider of choice for many of this country’s largest manufacturers,” Ansorge said.
Founded in 1985 as CraftCast Co., the Jackson plant started out in a 5,000-sq.-ft. building before moving to a 20,000-sq.-ft. plant in 1990. The company continued to grow and moved into the current 42,000-sq.-ft. facility that it built in 1995. CraftCast Co. merged with Avalon Precision Castings of Cleveland, and another merger in 2014 with Precision Metalsmiths Inc., of Cleveland, resulted in the combined Avalon Precision Metalsmiths.
Now operating three facilities in Cleveland, Ohio, Jackson, Wis., and Markesan, Wis., as well as off-shore capabilities in China, Avalon Precision Metalsmiths provides investment castings for a variety of customers throughout the U.S.
