AvePoint's Compliance Guardian Now Combines Risk Management, Data Classification and Protection Solutions

With the exponential explosion of data being created through multiple communication systems, one of the top privacy, security and compliance challenges for organizations today is to understand where their data lives and how it moves through their organization.
This year’s report, “Organisational Readiness for the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR),” by AvePoint and the Centre for Information Policy Leadership (CIPL) revealed that 60 percent of respondents were unaware about the sensitive and confidential content within their data, and how it’s used or treated.
New Enterprise Risk Management Component
Compliance Guardian now makes it easier for companies to understand their risk and how data moves through their organization. The platform features three components that can be purchased separately or as part of a cohesive security, privacy and compliance platform:
- Enterprise Risk Management (ERM): Build and manage an enterprise wide risk management strategy adressing data inventories, data maps, security risk and data protection impact assessments, and implement Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA) controls. Schedule discovery as often as every 15 minutes to gain insight into at-risk conent or controls, to include sensitive data such as PII (personally identifiable information).
- Data Validation and Classification (DVC): Scan, tag and classify data wherever it lives, in real time and on a schedule: file shares, Dropbox, Box, Slack, Office 365, SharePoint, databases and more. Establish data classifications, enterprise metadata schemas, and automate retention tags for records management and purpose limitations.
- Data Protection and Incident Management (DPIM): Protect the brand and information by defining and automating data protection policies. Move, block, quarantine, redact, pseudonymize, and encypt data for full implementation of security controls to mitigate risk. Integrate with information management policies for extensive data protection. Send violations to assigned personnel in real-time: content creators, owners, compliance and legal teams, or specific user groups.
