Avid Collector Announces His Search For Original Jimi Hendrix 1969 Gunther Kieser “Medusa Head” Concert Posters
SAN FRANCISCO (PRWEB) March 06, 2018 -- Avid Collector, Andrew Hawley from Vintage Rock Posters, announces his search for original Jimi Hendrix 1969 Gunther Kieser “medusa head” concert posters. This image of Hendrix is probably the most enduring in rock concert poster history. The poster was a tour blank for a nine city tour over 12 days in Germany in January 1969. The tour started in Hamburg and end in Berlin. According to Hawley, "Günther Kieser, from Germany, was one of the top designers of rock concert posters in the 1960s. Besides Hendrix, Kieser also designed posters for the Grateful Dead, Miles Davis and The Who. He did several album covers for the BlueNote jazz record label. His work is stunning in its design and creativity.”
Hawley adds, “The Hendrix concert advertising poster came in two sizes. The largest was enormous at 32 x 40 inches. There were so many American GIs in Germany who went to the concerts that Hendrix played reveille at one of the shows. The back-up band Eire Apparent was is listed at the bottom of the poster besides the venue information. The Kieser poster credit is written in small letters along the middle edge of the poster on the right side.”
