Avid Collector Seeks Original 1966-69 German Artist Gunther Kieser Concert Posters
San Francisco, California (PRWEB) January 22, 2015 -- Avid collector, Andrew Hawley from Vintage Rock Posters, seeks original 1966-69 German artist Gunther Kieser concert posters. Kieser created the famous “wire hair” rock concert poster for the 1969 Jimi Hendrix German tour. According to Hawley, “Gunther Kieser was born in 1930 and worked as a freelance graphic artist. He got noticed when he produced concert posters for some of America's leading jazz artist when they toured German in the 1950s. Much of his work combined graphic design with photographic elements. His fait accompli was the Hendrix wire hair rock concert poster. This image is one of the most famous images of Jimi Hendrix. The poster was used to advertise Hendrix shows at the Sportspalast in Berlin, the Rheinhalle in Dusseldorf and other venues in Cologne, Frankfurt and Hamburg. Originals have white lettering on the top of the concert poster and were wheat pasted on the walls of bus shelters, subways, and local streets.”
Hawley continues, “Kieser designed two concert posters for the Who. One in the mid-1960s and the striking devils head poster in 1976. In1968, he designed concert posters for the Doors and Jefferson Airplane. The Doors only toured Germany once.” For examples of Gunther Kieser work, please go to [http://www.vintageconcertposterbuyer.com/psychedelic/jimi_hendrix.html.
