STERLING, Va. (PRWEB) June 07, 2018 -- Avitecture, Inc., a leading audiovisual systems designer and integrator, recently completed major improvements throughout the Filene Center at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, a beautiful and rustic performance venue nestled in a 117-acre national park in Fairfax, Va. Wolf Trap is the only U.S. National Park dedicated to the performing arts. As Wolf Trap’s audiovisual partner, Avitecture is proud to continue this successful relationship.
A popular outdoor venue constructed on donated land in 1971, Wolf Trap wanted to enhance the audience experience through the use of five large, high-definition, prominently positioned video displays. Following the digital signage system that Avitecture designed and installed at Wolf Trap in 2017, the park chose Avitecture to design a large video display and production system. Five very large video displays are the heart of the system. The center lawn section features an 11-foot x 20-foot display. The other four measure 7.3-foot x 13-foot: two flank the center display for viewing by the lawn audience, while two more are positioned within the Filene Center for the loge and balcony audiences.
Achieving broadcast-quality production values was of major importance; a particular challenge because of the system’s exposure to the heat and rain of a Washington, D.C. summer. Avitecture chose and installed five newly developed all-weather pan-tilt-zoom cameras which have wipers to clear precipitation, as well as gyroscopic stabilization technology to mitigate vibrations from especially loud concerts. Avitecture provided additional cameras for on-stage close-ups to enhance production values.
A new production control room based on Avitecture’s design coordinates and powers these enhancements to the Filene Center. Wolf Trap camera operators now use state-of-the-art equipment for video switching and total camera control. Due to long distances between the production control room, cameras, and large screens, Avitecture deployed a fiber-optic infrastructure throughout the venue.
“We’re so pleased that the staff at the Wolf Trap Foundation, especially the outstanding production team, have been thrilled with the impact and audience response to this new Avitecture system,” said Greg Boyd, Avitecture’s President. “We’re proud of our work in improving the audience’s concert experiences, and we’re honored to continue our long-standing relationship with Wolf Trap.”
