Award-Winning Botanical Photographer Presents Groundbreaking Techniques At Huntington
San Marino, CA (PRWEB) July 15, 2015 -- Best known for stunning close-ups of rare and exotic flowers, internationally acclaimed botanical photographer reveals the secrets behind his groundbreaking images at the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens’ “Weird, Wild and Wonderful” Symposium on Saturday, July 25.
Leaser will conduct two workshops on “Close-up Botanical Photography: How to Create Astonishingly Detailed Images with a Groundbreaking New Technique.” Attendees will learn the pioneering space-age techniques used to recreate a “bee’s eye” view of flowers from the artist who created them. Leaser will show how he layers dozens of photos to highlight details impossible to see with the naked eye or traditional photography, like a flower’s tiniest hairs or the dew on its petals. He will show how to pick the right subjects, camera settings, lighting, software and even how to create an affordable indoor studio. Documented in NikonWorld Magazine, his techniques can be used on any still-life subject. Leaser’s workshops will take place on Saturday, July 25 from 9-12 a.m. and 2-5 p.m.at the Huntington’s Brody Botanical Center. Cost is $60 per session plus symposium registration fee.

Leaser joins an array of distinguished international botanical artists who will conduct workshops at the three-day symposium, which celebrates the eccentric beauty of plants. The Huntington has partnered with the American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA) and the Botanical Artists Guild of Southern California (BAGSC ) for this event, in conjunction with “Weird, Wild and Wonderful,” a traveling exhibition sponsored by the New York Botanical Garden. A longtime Southern California resident, Leaser is recognized as one of the world’s leading botanical photographers. His artwork has been praised by the art and photographic communities and has been featured on ABC News, Fox News and in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Architectural Digest, Sunset Magazine and Nikon World.
