Award-Winning Myrtle Beach Area Golf Instructor Mel Sole Celebrates 50 Years As A Golf Professional
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (PRWEB) March 18, 2016 -- Mel Sole, one of America's top golf instructors and owner of the Mel Sole Golf School, headquartered at Founders Group International's Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club in Pawleys Island, S.C., is celebrating 50 years as a professional golfer and member of the PGA of South Africa this year. Sole, a native South African, turned professional at 18. After a few years as a club professional, he joined the South African PGA Tour. While competing on the Tour during the 1970s, he was coached by renowned instructor Phil Ritson who also provided instruction to the legendary Gary Player and other PGA stars.
Under Ritson's tutelage, Sole discovered a passion for teaching golf and turned his career toward providing golf instruction. He helped to improve the golf games of adult and junior golfers of all playing levels, and his coaching of junior golf teams in South Africa produced National and Provincial Champions.
After immigrating to Canada, Sole launched the Canadian Golf Academy, an indoor-outdoor teaching facility. In 1989, his former teacher, Phil Ritson, invited Sole to become director of operations and a partner with Ritson in the opening of a golf academy in America's seaside golf capital, Myrtle Beach, S.C. In the years that followed, the Phil Ritson-Mel Sole Golf School has been consistently rated by national golf and travel magazines as one of the best golf schools in the United States.
In 2013, the school was renamed the Mel Sol Golf School. Ranked in the top 5 of the “Top 25 USA Golf Schools” by Golf Magazine, the school's (and Sole's) accolades continue to grow.
