Awards for Environmental Impact and Disruption send AeroFarms into 2016
Newark, New Jersey (PRWEB) December 29, 2015 -- AeroFarms, the pioneer and leader of vertical farming, has received three awards for developing a commercial way of growing food indoors responsibly, bypassing the traditionally adverse environmental impact of commercial field farming. AeroFarms was selected for the Red Herring Global 100, has won the World Technology Award for the environment, and is a finalist for the World Economic Forum’s Circulars Awards.
The Red Herring Top 100 award highlights the most exciting startups from Asia, Europe and the Americas. Hundreds of companies from each region are reviewed for their social impact and potential for disruption.
AeroFarms also won The World Technology Awards for the Environment, presented by the World Technology Network as a way to honor those doing "the innovative work of the greatest likely long-term significance." Past winners include Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Craig Venter, Al Gore, and Angela Belcher, with corporate Winners including Space-X, Apple and Tesla Motors.
AeroFarms is also a finalist for the World Economic Forum Ecolab Award for Circular Economy Enterprise. The Circulars recognize individuals and organizations that have made a substantive contribution to upholding the principles of a circular economy - wherein critical natural resources are not threatened. Awards will be presented in a ceremony at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos in January 2016.
