Axiad IDS Launches Next Generation of Axiad ID Cloud for Advanced Cyber Defense -- New Capabilities Include Virtual Smart Cards and Derived Credentials on Mobile Devices

(PRWEB) February 27, 2018 -- Axiad IDS, a leading provider of authentication and identity and access management solutions for enterprise, healthcare, government and financial organizations, today announced it has launched the next-generation of Axiad ID Cloud, providing companies a comprehensive platform with new capabilities to prevent security breaches and meet critical IT security mandates. Axiad ID Cloud’s additional capabilities take trusted identity beyond authentication devices to phones, laptops and other mobile devices.
Among other security and functionality enhancements, the Axiad ID Cloud platform now allows virtual smart cards and derived credentials to authenticate users and establish and perform secure digital transactions. A virtual smart card combined with a user PIN is a secure alternative to OTP tokens, smart cards and other secure authentication devices, secured at the hardware level by leveraging a Trusted Platform Module (TPM).
The new Axiad ID Cloud platform also provides a derived credential solution that leverages all of the strenuous identity vetting required to issue a physical smart card for use on a mobile device.

By integrating the latest version of HID Global Corporation’s Card Management Solution (CMS 5.0) into the Axiad ID Cloud, users may now leave their smart cards in their wallets, and sign in using virtual smart cards on a Windows 10-device embedded with a TPM 2.0. Among other benefits, companies can deploy PKI-based 2-factor authentication without requiring smart cards or readers. The virtual smart card is protected by a PIN and can be used with any application compatible with the Microsoft crypto APIs, including Windows Logon, VPN, application access, web authentication, email, document signature and encryption. The virtual smart card can be personalized using the User Portal in the Axiad Cloud platform.
