AZ Capitol Rally to Salute Catholic Education, Partners
Phoenix, Arizona (PRWEB) January 21, 2014 -- On Wednesday, January 29, 2014, 11:30 am on the Arizona State Capitol lawn, Catholic Education Arizona will be hosting a V.I.P. picnic event as part of a Statewide Catholic Schools Rally where individual and corporate partners supporting private education tax credits for Catholic schools will be recognized.
2013 “Guardian of Hope Award” recipient National Bank of Arizona and representatives of H&R Block, the recognized industry leader in tax preparation, will join Arizona bishops, school leaders, elected officials and 1,000 students representing dozens of Catholic schools in the Dioceses of Phoenix, Tucson and Gallup (NM) at the rally.
“Tax credits for private schools are doing a great deal of good for everyone in our community, not just our low-income scholarship recipients,” said Paul S. Mulligan, President & C.E.O. of Catholic Education Arizona, the state’s largest provider of need-based funding for K-12 students in Catholic schools. “It’s important to recognize the thousands of individuals and dozens of companies that invest their tax dollars in quality Catholic education, improving educational outcomes for our most under-served population while saving Arizona millions of dollars.”
The 41st annual celebration of National Catholic Schools Week runs January 26 through February 1, 2014. Arizona Catholic schools will be observing National Catholic Schools Week with several major events planned, including Masses, the Capitol Rally/V.I.P. event, a spelling bee, open houses, and many other local activities for students, families, parishioners, and community members. Through these events, schools focus on the value Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to the church, our communities, and our nation.
In addition to robust character formation, Catholic schools graduate ninety-nine percent of students, and ninety-seven percent go on to post-secondary education through what is commonly called the “Catholic school advantage.”
