The guide has an extensive section on what a user's rights and responsibilities are if they find out a neighbor is a registered sex offender, he said.
“When someone finds out that they know a sex offender is when they are most likely to do something that will get them into legal trouble,” the BackgroundCheck.us.org spokesman said. “There are very stringent legal guidelines about what you can do with that information, but people often act out of fear rather than reason. Then the sex offender remains free, and the other person heads off to jail.”
